Observations during excavation of footings for a new rear extension revealed that in this area deep, recent deposits were present, perhaps associated with the levelling of the site prior to the conversion of the farm buildings to houses and erection of Master's House in 1998. No trace of Roman road known to run across garden on south side of house and designated as a Scheduled Monument (SM78) or associated features. At time of visit negottiations ongoing between applicant and EH over other aspect of proposal (Construction of porch on south side of house (within limits of SM 78).
