Description
A geophysical survey commissioned to inform the make up of this section of the city wall, Chester, a 20m section at Rufus Court in the north section of the wall. Ground penetrating radar was used, and identified sections of the core of the wall with a strong discrete anomalies in the radar response which are likely to have been caused by poor construction or deterioration of the core with associated voiding. However, there was no particular signature in the radar returns that could be associated with the know sections of Roman walls which could in turn be used to identify section so surviving Roman wall in the rebuilt section.
