Description
Watching brief carried out during construction of new student accommodation in the grounds of the Abbey Gate School, Chester, revealed bedrock underneath what is likely modern makeup but no significant archaeological remains were identified (1). The 0.10 - 0.20m thick makeup layer is undated, and consisted of brick, mortar and standstone rubble. One single sherd of medieval pottery was recovered (1).
