Description

The results of the watching brief have shown that the ground rising west from Church Street within the boundary of the former Inn has a foundation of natural sandstone bedrock revealed at c.20cm below the modern surfaces. The depth of the sandstone, south of the access road, suggests that sandstone may have been quarried out from the site in the past and ground levels reduced. (1)
