Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 1999 during groundworks associated with a development to the rear of the former NatWest Bank, 2 Swan Bank, Congleton. Considerable modern overburden was noted over much of the site. The remains of buildings dating to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were recorded in the area of the new car park. Excavation did not penetrate beyond these foundations, so earlier deposits may survive. (1)
