Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 1998 at the Stretton Fox Public House (formerly Spark Hall Farm), Spark Hall Close, Stretton, Warrington. It was considered possible the remains of the Roman Road, King's Street, could exist in the area of the site. The groundworks of the development were monitored and recorded a pebble and river cobble spread in a small area in the south-west corner of the site close to Northwich road, it is uncertain whether this represented the Roman road, but they remain in situ and protected by the overlying development. No other archaeological deposits were uncovered. (1)
