Description
During April and May 1983, immediately prior to the development of 76 - 84 Lower Bridge St., including the garden areas behind the properties, the first stage of archaeological surveillance raised a few points of interest. It seemed that surviving masonry in the basements may be medieval, and the standing properties were set into and onto bedrock, suggesting that there is a sharp fall in the level of the bedrock at Shipgate St. (1).
