Description

In October and November 1971, the northern end of the terrace of shops and flats east of Northgate St. To the south of the Little Abbey Gateway was demolished, permitting a brief investigation of this area (2). An excavation for a limited period showed that there was a medieval cobbled surface alongside Northgate St. (adjacent to the Cathedral Close wall), and a number of postholes in a runnel / gulley (1).
