Description

At a depth of 1.5m the top of the turf rampart was discovered and subsequently found to be standing to a height of 2.4m, at its base was timber strapping. About a yard of the rampart back had been cut away for the insertion of a rampart building but no dating evidence was forthcoming. Referred to as Site No. 22 in the Defences Monograph (3).
