Description

A small scale excavation at the back of Wood Street and east Bank of river Weaver, north of Welsh Row, was undertaken in the 1970s by Mr J. Ray, a local man with a keen interest in archaeology. He found large quantities of burnt timber and charcoal which potentially was related to the salt-boiling process or the many fires of Nantwich.
