Description

In 1928, in preparing an area for a parking ground at the Kaleyards, formerly the site of the old Hop-Pole Hotel Paddock, the structural remains of the Drum Tower and sections of the lower courses of the Roman fortress wall were found (1). They were first uncovered by the City Engineer, Charles Greenwood, and more archaeological excavations followed (1).
