Description

The Sea Wall LL65 (Previously LL PG/4) Address: The Parade, Parkgate Architect: Mostyn Estates Date: Built in four sections between 1810-1849 Description A sea wall, approximately 1200 yards (1097 metres) long formed of Cheshire and sandstone blocks, presenting a battered curved face to the seaside and a flat topped coping forming a kerb to The Parade. Much of the face of the wall is now concealed by silt and marsh grass. 1st section c1810 from The Watch House to the Donkey Stand. 2nd section c1825 from the Donkey Stand to Prospect House. 3rd section c1830 from Prospect House to the South Slip. 4th section c1849 from The Watch House to the North Slip (Boathouse Lane). Condition Fair (some sections in need of repointing). Current Use In use as a sea wall and retaining wall to roadway. Updated March 2007
