Undercroft and town house, in October 1991 undercroft shop, shop at Row level and storey immediately above, with vacant fourth storey. Probably late medieval rebuilt from Row level upward early C19. Sandstone and brown brick; grey slate roof, ridge at right-angle to front. 4 storeys including street and Row levels, of one bay. Late C20 shopfront to street; altered mid C19 shopfront to Row has 3 cross-shaped panels beneath 12-pane window with overlight, a door of a cross-shaped panel beneath 6 panes, east; rear passage, west. Slender, moulded cast-iron balustrade to Row front. One sash centrally placed with plain sill and wedge lintel of painted stone to each upper storey, of 20 panes to third storey and 16 panes to fourth storey. The painted moulded cornice is probably plaster. The 3-storey brick rear has flush gable; 3 chimneys on east side. INTERIOR: the undercroft 27.1 x 4.4m is of probably late medieval masonry of relatively poor quality. The upper storeys are, as far as could be seen, wholly C19.
