Description

CHESTER CITY (IM) SJ4065NW CASTLE STREET 595-1/5/91 (North side) 10/01/72 No.22 GV II Town house, now museum office. Late C18. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roof, ridge parallel with front. 3 storeys of 3 bays, plus attic. 3 stone steps in shallow porch to door of 5 fielded panels, east; 3 recessed 12-pane sashes have thin painted-stone sills and wedge lintels. Narrow second storey sillband; 3 recessed 12-pane sashes with painted wedge lintels. The third storey has 3 recessed 12-pane sashes with thin painted-stone sills and wedge lintels. Painted stone frieze and cornice beneath rendered parapet. The west side has one recessed sash, now 4-paned, with painted stone sill and wedge lintel to each upper storey. INTERIOR: stair replaced and many features removed. Small cornice to hall. Cornice to second storey front room; door of 5 fielded panels to rear room which has 2 chamfered cross-beams. All features in the third storey are lost or covered. Listing NGR: SJ4049465920
