CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ4165 VICTORIA PATHWAY 1932-1/8/297 (East side) 21/07/95 Nos.15 AND 17 GV II Pair of cottages. c1855. Probably by James Harrison. Flemish bond brown brick with grey slate roofs. 2 storeys with a pair of front-gabled bays flanked by porch bays. Plinth; added porch with tiled lean-to roof to No.15; a canted bay window with 4;8;4-panes to each cottage; door of 4 fielded panels with radial-bar fanlight to No.17; an added 1-storey wing, right. A 16-pane recessed sash to first floor of each cottage; bargeboards; 2 plinthed chimneys on party wall. A blocked opening in flank of main bay of No.15 and a 12-pane sash to No.17. The end of No.15 has 2-pane sashes to No.15; No.17 has a 12-pane sash to each side of a blank opening. INTERIORS not inspected. With Nos 2-18 and 1-13 Victoria Pathway (qv), this item comprises an unusual example of mid C19 suburban planning analogous to mid C20 Radburn layouts with a footpath serving the fronts of the cottages and vehicular streets to their rear.
