Boundary wall, with gate piers, of Grosvenor Park from Love Street at its junction with Union Street, north, and Billy Hobby's Well (qv) by Grosvenor Park Terrace, south. 1865-1867. By John Douglas at the expense of the 2nd Marquis of Westminster. For Chester City Council. Squared snecked sandstone rubble and granite. Plinth and replaced railings between Love Street and the north-west gateway which has square granite piers diminishing to octagonal section beneath ornate moulded finials; plinth and replaced railings between north-west gateway and west gateway, opposite St John Baptist churchyard, which has 2 chamfered granite piers diminishing to octagonal section towards blunt-pointed caps; rock-faced squared snecked sandstone wall up to 2m high and stepping down with slope of path towards Dee; south-west gateway inserted to give access from the Groves and the Suspension Bridge (qv); south wall, partly a retaining wall, approx 1.6m high; south gateway to Grosvenor Park Terrace and 2 chamfered granite piers diminishing to blunt-pointed octagonal caps; plinth and replaced railing between gateway and Billy Hobby's Well (qv).
