SJ46NW CHEYNEY ROAD 1932-1/2/42 (South side) 10/01/72 Churchyard wall, piers and gates to St Thomas of Canterbury (Formerly Listed as: PARKGATE ROAD Wall surrounding churchyard)

North-west side of churchyard wall, gate piers and gates. Late C19. Squared snecked sandstone and cast-iron. The wall retains the churchyard which is 1 metre above street level. Roughly rounded flush coping stones. A pair of square ashlar gate piers with tooled raised panels to sides of piers and faces of 2-stage pyramidal heads. Cast-iron gate with dogbars, roundels between double lower and upper rails and panel decorated with foliar-cusped quatrefoils. A pair of gates of similar design but without piers, opposite north porch. The wall continues south-east along Parkgate Road (qv).
