CHESTER CITY (EM) SJ4166 BATH STREET 1932-1/6/4 (East side) 10/01/72 No.13 The Spinney GV II Small town house. 1903. By John Douglas. Hard red brick with panels of grey polygonal random rubble stonework; Westmorland green slate roof. 2 storeys; square in plan plus wing, left, joined by yard archway to No.11 Bath Street (qv). The front has leaded glazing in upper panels of 9-panel door in flat-arched terracotta opening dated 1903, at inner end of left wing. The main block has round turret left and octagonal quasi-turret, right; a 2-light brick-mullioned leaded stair casement in turret, a small 1-light casement in main wall and a part-leaded 1-light casement in front and in right oblique face of quasi-turret. The first floor is jettied on terracotta corbels; the left wing has a 1-light leaded casement in corbelled gabled dormer with stone apex panel; a leaded light above doorway; casements of 2 and 1 light in turret, both leaded; the main wall has a corbelled shaped chimney to each side; the quasi-turret has a leaded light to front and a 2-light leaded casement in the oblique face. Hipped roofs. The turret has steep conical roof with hipped lead lucarne and finial; the quasi-turret has octagonal spire with lead finial. The right side has a 3-light mullioned casement and two of 2 lights to ground floor. The first floor is stone-panelled; casements of 2; 3; 1; 2 and 2 lights; gable with lozenge-shaped plaster panels towards the rear. A shaped rear chimney. INTERIOR not inspected.
