SJ 45 SE TILSTON CHURCH ROAD (West side)

II
House, C17, with late C19 wing to north and other additions and alterations in C17 style. Red-brown brick with false timber-framed gables. Tile roofs and ridges. 2 storey, asymmetrical facade with 3 gables, 1 slightly projecting to form L plan. Rectangular collared brick flues set diagonally, from 1 to 2 per stack, on collared brick stacks. First floor dentillated band. Slightly projecting timber casements, with billet moulding to sides, with stone cills. Arched brick head to doorway. Timber 5-spiked gable finials typical of Leche Estate.
3 storey brick water tower integral to building (at rear) has a hipped tile roof with weather vane. Interior: Sandstone chimney stack with inglenooks with panelling brought from Carden Hall, and moulded brackets to beam in kitchen. Partly exposed upper cruck in first floor room. Door posts with pointed heads of C19 type, fielded 4-panel doors.
