Milestone: Plaque probably 1824; stone replaced late C20. Lancet shaped buff sandstone block supports cast-iron plaque recording distances to London 175m, Macclesfield 5m and Stockport 7m.
A complete example survives on London Road North, Poynton (q.v.).
