SJ 88 SW WILMSLOW C.P. FORMER U.D. HOLLIN LANE (West Side) 1/284 The Worralls and Birch Farm Cottage (formerly listed as Worrall). 6/3/1975 II Formerly farmhouse and cottage: now 2 houses: The Worralls is C17 with mid C19 alterations and additions. Partly timber framed on brick plinth, partly brick, Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and 2 brick chimneys. 1½-storey, 5-bay south front. Right bays original and have 4-light mid C19 wooden mullioned windows with flat hoods (the upper ones in added gabled dormers) flanking rebated 3-centred arched doorcase with C20 door. Similar gabled dormer above brick portion to left. Right gable has regular timber small framing and a tiebeam and collar truss with an original 3-light wood mullioned window in gable. Birch Farm Cottage is early C19 with C20 alterations. Flemish bond red brick, Welsh slate roof. 2-storey, 3-bay front. Rusticated stone quoins. C20 mullioned and transomed windows below, and mullioned above have flat gauged and rubbed brick heads with stone keyblocks and stone sills. Door at left has similar head and 3 semi-circular headed glazed panels in the fanlight. Listing NGR: SJ8394083631
