II
Formerly hall, now house: late C16 with later C17 rubble rebuild and some C20 alterations. Coursed squared buff sandstone rubble, Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 1 brick ridge chimney. H-plan lobby entry house, 2-storey, 4-bay front. Left end bay under gable has 5-light rubble mullioned windows under rubble hood moulds. Right end bay projects slightly under gable and has C20 windows under rubble hood moulds. Left of centre is projecting gabled porch with a cambered lintel. To right are C20 window and a C17 style dormer. 2 rubble mullioned windows on right gable. End bays extend to rear where they show 2 timber-framed trusses with small framing and brick nogging. These may suggest an originally timber framed house.
Was originally Legh Old Hall replaced as main residence by Legh Hall (q.v.)
