Description

SJ 98 SE DISLEY C.P. LOWER GREENSHALL LANE (East Side) 4/37 Lower Greenshall II House: dated 1666 with C19 alterations: Coursed, sandstone rubble with Kerridge stone-slate roof and a brick chimney. Rectangular 2-unit cottage with gable entrance. 2-storey, 2-bay front. Mixture of 2 and 3-light, C18 wooden casements, one with a hood mould partially surviving. Tablet between upper storey windows reads L:L W:M:R, 1666. Plain wooden door frame in right gable and casement, enlarging original fire window. Interior: Door opens into living room with heck surviving. C20 fireplace in outline of original stack. Chamfered beams with flat and tongue stops. Partition wall appears to be timber-framed and traces of upper cruck on a tie beam exposed in upper storey. A brick and stone C19 bungalow with Welsh slate roof has been added to the east and this is not of special interest. Listing NGR: SJ9862684662
