Description
MACCLESFIELD
SJ9173NE KING EDWARD STREET 886-1/10/110 (North side) 17/03/77 No.11
GV II
House, now offices but vacant at time of survey. Late C18 but with earlier core. Brick with slate roof. 3 storeys, 2-window range with central entrance, the doorway renewed in a Georgian style. Windows are renewed sashes in original openings with flat-arched brick heads and stone sills. Demolition in 1975 of a building adjoining to the right revealed medieval timbers, including an arched and moulded truss which may have originally formed part of an internal bay of an early hall. Part of this earlier building was incorporated in the early core of No.11.
