SJ 98 SW ADLINGTON C.P. MILL LANE (South Side)
3/16 Sundial at centre of south front lawn at Adlington Hall.
GV II
Sundial: probably c1825. Ashlar buff sandstone. Pair of circular steps with moulded nosing support a partly fluted baluster on an octagonal base. Projecting moulded octagonal capstone carries a now worn copper plate and a simple triangular plate gnomon. The plate has Roman numerals and the initials TL in copper plate lettering (probably for Thomas Legh VI, lord of the manor 1822-29).
