Description

SJ 97 NW ADLINGTON C.P. HOLEHOUSE LANE (North Side) 6/5 Higher Doles Farmhouse. II Farmhouse: C17 with some alterations. Washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble. Composition tile roof and 1 brick chimney. H-shaped plan. 3-bay north front. Left end bay under projecting gable is of 2+ storeys. Part of chamfered rubble mullion window with a hood mould and a similar 4-light window with some original glazing now hidden by brick lean-to. Above is rebated 3-light rubble mullion window and similar 4-light in gable. Central bay of 1 storey has a large 2-light horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars and right end bay of 2 storeys has 3 C20 openings. Interior: Some simple 2-panelled doors with wooden latches. C17 dogleg stair of handrail, square newels and no balusters. Ovolo-moulded beam in parlour with flat and tongue stops. Chamfered beams in other rooms. Listing NGR: SJ9259179327
