3/39 Nos. 1 and 2. Walnut Cottage (formerly listed as Walnut Tree). 14/4/1967 II
Formerly house, now 2 houses: C17 with added house of 1751 for Peter Cotteril. Partly timber-framed on stone plinth, partly washed brick. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge and 3-stone chimneys. L-shaped plan. South range is timber framed. North front of 9 by 2 irregular small frames with angle bracing of wall plate. Door in right end bay and near centre. 2 wooden casements and an added dormer with raking roof. West end wall is of rubble sandstone. East range is 2-storey 3-bay brick cottage. End bays have 2-light wooden casements under segmental rough brick heads. Central C20 board door under similar head with date plaque above reading PCC 1751.
