Manor house, later farmhouse, now public house. 1637, with alterations and extensions c1700; converted and extended to form public house c1983. Coursed squared red sandstone with two extension wings of brown brick in English bond, one now rendered; slate roofs with massive stack to original build. EXTERIOR. entrance front: original building 2 storeys and attic with single gabled front; to right, 2-storey 3-window wing with projecting single-storey porch. Studded door in gabled porch which has 2-light mullioned windows in the returns. Gabled front has 12/12 sash window on ground floor, 8/8 sash with cambered stone arch on first floor, 3-light stone mullioned window in attic. Wing has small-pane sash windows with 1-course segmental brick arches, raised brick bands at first floor and eaves levels, and moulded cornice. Left return: 3-bay return of original building to right of 2-storey 1-bay extension. At centre of original building is massive projecting full-height stack. On ground floor to right 3-light flush casement inserted in unblocked original window opening: on first floor, windows are stone mullioned. Extension has C20 bow window on ground floor and raised brick bands as entrance front extension.
INTERIOR: exposed beams and ceiling joists throughout lower storeys; exposed purlins and ridgetree in attic. Firebeam to ground floor and elaborate stone fireplace with corniced overmantel and flower decoration on frieze, at first floor level.
