ELLESMERE PORT & NESTON DOCKS BASIN SJ 4077 7/15 Toll House (formerly listed as Ellesmere 26.11.75 Port Docks) GV II Early C19, Thomas Telford, engineer; 2-storey and basement 5-window brick building with 2 symmetrically placed chimneys on east side and wide-eaved hipped slate roof. Sandstone cill bands. Camber arches to basement windows (east), stone lintels to ground floor. Recessed small-pane sashes. Pedimented door pieces in symmetrical south and north ends. Typical of Telford's detail- ing and proportions for his road toll houses and small canal buildings. Original doors and windows restored 1983.
