DODDINGTON C.P. LONDON ROAD SJ 74 NW 5/24 Lake Lodge gates, piers - and screen walls - II
Gates, piers and walling. c1777-90. By Samuel Wyatt. Wrought iron, ashlar and red English garden wall bond brick with ashlar coping. Central drive gates with arrowhead finials to the palings, quatrefoils to the dog bar panel and crescent shaped strengthening bars. To either side are square ashlar piers with banded rustication and flat pyramidal caps and at either side of these are double wicket gates, similar to the drive gates save that they have no strengthening bars and to either side of these is a further pair of similar ashlar piers connected to the screen walls which are curved and have a chamfered ashlar coping above.
