Description
HUNSTERSON C.P. (Off) HUNSTERSON ROAD SJ 74 NW 5/42 Wall of paddocks and stable building
GV II
Wall of paddocks and stable building. Late C18. Red random bond brick with ashlar coping. Four rectangular paddocks grouped in a 2 x 2 plan to form one large rectangle with a central stable building encompassing four individual stables one letting onto each of the paddocks. The walls are of 10'-12' in height with unmoulded ashlar coping. The central stable block has a hipped roof of slate. The original arrangement whereby the east and west walls contained two stable doors with cambered heads and the north and south wall two cambered-headed windows is now somewhat altered by later additions. The southern wall has a pitch hole at left and a loft door at right of the first floor. Formerly the paddocks to Doddington Hall the enclosures are used at the time of resurvey (1985) as nursery gardens.
