Description

NORBURY C.P. HOLTRIDGE SJ 54 NE 2/77 The Holtridge GV II Farmhouse. Early C17 with later C17 or early C18 addition. English garden wall bond brick and Flemish bond brick with plain tile roof. T-shaped plan, the earlier portion forming the downstroke and having originally had a baffle entry plan. The later portion, forming the cross stroke has to its northern facade two bays with a canted oriel window to the centre of the ground floor of C20 date in place of the original doorway, the stone sill to which can still be seen. To either side are 3-light casement windows with C20 fenestration with flat heads. Band of 2 bricks depth between floors. Two 3-light flat headed casement windows to the first floor. Below the eaves is a cogged band. To either gable end are stone springers and coping. Chimney stack at right. To the rear is the earlier wing at centre which has C20 renewed fenestration to both flanks and, at the gable end, a C17 re-set plank door with coffin nail decoration with C19 timber porch over. Interior: The earliest part of the house has chamfered ceiling beams to the later portion and one C17 plank door with decorated strap hinges. Listing NGR: SJ5615948481
