Abstract/Summary
Historic environment desk-based assessment produced in 2024 in support of an application to develop a solar farm on land at Aston Grange, Cheshire. There are no designated heritage assets within the study site. It is considered that the potential for the site to contain archaeological finds and features dating from the prehistoric and Saxon periods to be low; the potential for the Roman and medieval periods moderate, and the potential for the post-medieval and modern periods high. However, any archaeological remains which may be present on the site are likely to be of no more than local or regional significance. Also, it is considered that the groundworks associated with any development of the site are unlikely to disturb any sucharchaeological remains which may be present.
A geophysical survey was carried out in January 2024, but no definite archaeological features were identified, apart from some which are likely to be the result of post-medieval and modern farming practices.
