Description
Archaeological recording and monitoring and historic building recording were carried out in 2021 and 2022 at the Old Hall, Nether Alderley, in advance of the construction of an extension to the Old Hall building and dredging of the associated moat and lake. The stone masonry structure of the moat was recorded, alongside some previously buried stone foundations of the Old Hall. No unexpected archaeological features or artefacts were uncovered during the excavation of topsoil around the house or during the dredging of either the moat or the lake.
