Abstract/Summary
Heritage Desk-Based Assessment produced in 2024 for land at Rectory Lane, Capenhurst, Cheshire, prior to the construction of a new energy storage system (ESS) compound, substations, site cabins, fencing and access road. No prehistoric activity has been recorded within the study area. A possible Roman road is recorded close to the site so there is potential for Roman remains to be present. The site has functioned as agricultural land from the medieval period until the present day. Evidence of remnant ridge and furrow earthworks and former marl pits were observed during a field visit and are also recorded on historic maps and visible on LiDAR imagery.
