Abstract/Summary

Archaeological watching brief undertaken in 2023 at Little Moreton Hall, Congleton, for drainage works. The drain is located at the corner of the eastern outer wall of Store G17 and the late 16th to early 17th century extension, centred on NGR SJ 8321 5892. Due to the nearness of the existing drain a c.0.90m length of connecting drain was all that was needed to be installed. The trench for the drain connection was hand excavated to a width of 0.50m and a maximum depth of 0.40m. Due to the shallow nature of the groundworks, only topsoil was exposed, and no finds were recovered.
