Abstract/Summary
Archaeological Desk-based assessment produced in 2022 relating to three pipeline options (Sites A, B and C) connecting Boughton STW to Huntington STW at Boughton, Chester, located between National Grid References SJ 41906,66578 and SJ 42263,64282 (the eastern/south-eastern extent of Chester).
It was found that the Sites are located within a multi-period landscape with activity from at least the Romano-British period onwards. It is considered that there is low potential for buried archaeological remains from the prehistoric and early medieval periods, and medium potential for Romano-British and medieval to modern. Furthermore, the presence of an Area of Archaeological Interest (AAI) ensures that works within its footprint would require special consent prior to the commencement of any ground intrusive works; archaeological remains encountered within its footprint have the potential to have high significance.
