The dwelling known as Watersedge was the subject of a level 2 historic building record in 2023 prior to alteration and extension; only the external elevations were recorded. The house is first shown on the Disley tithe map of 1851, where it is depicted as an L-shaped building in plan and, at the eastern end of the plot, there are three circular features within a rectangular enclosure which represent lime kilns. The dwelling is shown within plot 172 and the tithe apportionment lists it as 'Old Lime Kilns, Wharf, Cottage & Road'. The dwelling is again shown on the six inch Ordnance Survey map of 1881 where it is also shown as an L-shaped building and labelled as 'Kiln House'. By this time a small rectangular outbuilding had been constructed to the north and flanking immediately onto the canal. This may be part of the wharf noted in the earlier tithe apportionment. The circular kilns to the east are not shown and the area where they were forms part of what is probably a sand extraction pit, accessed from the north. Watersedge is a roughly square shaped house measuring 7.8m in length by 7.3m in width. It consists of a suspected original, rectangular range orientated north-east/south-west, and with the principal elevation to the north-west and facing the canal. The building was then extended to the southeast with a rectangular extension which was then later extended to the southwest creating what is now a roughly square plan form. The principal has a double pitched roof of stone tiles with matching stone ridge tiles. There is a rectangular chimney stack straddling the north-eastern gable surmounted by two modern decorative ceramic chimney pots. There is a matching rectangular chimney stack straddling the south-western gable also with two decorative ceramic chimney pots. The second extension consists of a rectangular range orientated northeast-southwest which ultimately creates a square plan form to the house. It consists of a two storey extension with double pitched roof of matching stone tiles and ridge tiles and the elevations are all of pebble dash painted white.
