Abstract/Summary
Extensive environmental investigations had highlighted the presence of wetland basins at Chelford Rd,
Henbury. The site had previously been subjected to extensive coring and deposit modelling and
supported by a program of pollen analysis, geochemical characterisation along with a programme of
c14 dating to establish the temporal extent of the peat deposits in the wetland areas.
Previous investigations had found no evidence of human activity either as the presence of material
culture, presence of archaeological features or examples of modified material, i.e. wood, in the
environmental record.
