Abstract/Summary

Study by Richmond and Crawford of Romano-British place-names (300 names) using the 'British Section of the Ravenna Cosmography'. Three versions of the Ravenna Cosmography exist (a 13th century copy and two dating to the 14th century); it is a list of place-names covering the world from India to Ireland, originally compiled by an anonymous cleric in Ravenna around 700 AD. Textual evidence indicates that the author frequently used maps as his source.
