Abstract/Summary
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken in 2022-3 during groundworks associated with the erection of new domestic dwellings on land at Lache Lane, Chester (centring on NGR SJ 3932 6413).
The site was identified as lying within the wider area of Chester’s archaeological potential. In particular, the site was identified as lying within the rural hinterland of the historic city and close to an area of extensive Roman settlement.
No archaeological features were encountered during the monitoring and, after substantial topsoil stripping across many areas of the site, it became apparent that the site held little of archaeological significance.
