Source/Archive record SCH9262 - Farndon Bridge: Principal Bridge Inspection

An inspection of Farndon Bridge was undertaken in 2015 due to concerns about accelerating erosion of the masonry of the bridge. The survey work included the excavation of trial pits to determine existing carriageway and footway construction details, sampling and testing of mortar, also a CCTV drainage survey was undertaken at each end of the bridge. The work was undertaken during an emergency road closure required to provide access to replace cutwater masonry damaged by debris carried downstream during heavy rain.
