Abstract/Summary
Heritage Statement produced in 2019 for No 22 The Groves which is the end house of a terrace of three dwellings that stand between the southern boundary of Grosvenor Park and the river Dee, towards the eastern end of The Groves. It has three storeys with a basement under the front part of the house, and to the rear is a small yard enclosed by high walls. The terrace dates from c.1840 and forms part of a group of late Georgian and early Victorian river front houses and commercial buildings. Each of the three houses has an outrigger at the rear, which is original to the house. These are three storeys in height, but slightly lower than the main dwelling. The terrace is listed at Grade II and is within the Chester City Conservation Area.
