Abstract/Summary
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2021 at Smithy Lodge, Wrenbury. Monitoring was undertaken of the site access, with drainage and turning bay, along with the footings of three new dwellings. Apart from the drainage trench, which extended to a depth of 1.3m, the depth of excavation did not exceed 0.5m. No features of archaeological significance were encountered, however, a small assemblage of pottery of eighteenth to twentieth century date was recovered from the topsoil and subsoil, along with a single sherd of medieval pottery.
