Abstract/Summary
A heritage assessment was produced in 2017 in support of the proposed development of a pocket park on George Street, Chester, CH1 3EQ. The development site lies close to a number of designated heritage assets including Chester City Walls, the King Charles Tower, 4-18 George Street terrace, Northgate Bakery, 2-4 Upper Northgate Street, Northgate Bridge, also Chester City Conservation Area. The site also borders the Shropshire Union Canal. The pocket park will provide a viewing platform for appreciation of the City Walls, King Charles Tower and the canal. The site has historically largely been undeveloped and at the time of proposal was a neglected plot of land.
