An archaeological desk-based assessment and site visit (09/09/2015) were undertaken in 2015-2016 for land to the north of Congleton at Somerford Green, Back Lane. The site is under proposal for the development of the new Congleton Link Road.
The potential of the site for buried archaeological remains is considered to be high. Sites identified include the Radnor-Congleton Toownship boundary, along with other field boundaries and hedgerows, also earthworks and artefact scatters identified by the field walk-over survey.
