Abstract/Summary
Report detailing the results of the field survey, undertaken in 1998, of RAF Hack Green, Cheshire. The Hack Green Regional Head Quarters comprises a semi-sunken, heavily protected bunker. In the event of a nuclear war, it was envisaged that the central government administration of the region would be conducted from the bunker. The bunker was a re-used, earlier R6 type bunker, constructed in the early 1950s as part of the Rotor radar programme. The head quarters sits at the centre of a complex sequence of military land use, adapted since World War II to reflect changing defence needs.
