Abstract/Summary
Report detailing the analysis of four glass beads and three miscellaneous finds from Beeston Castle. They were examined semi-quantativley by XRF (energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence). Two of the miscellaneous finds were shown to be sealing wax and the third a natural fossil. Two of the samples of glass were from seventeenth century contexts and contained high levels of mercury. A third sample, a blue and white bead, is described as prehistoric/Roman. The fourth bead, blue in colour, is thought to be likely medieval or later.
