Abstract/Summary

An archaeological building survey (level 2) was undertaken in 2017 for Higher Roughwood Mill, an eighteenth and nineteenth century water-powered flour mill, the former Mill House, also a nineteenth century cowshed at Roughwood Hill Farm, in advance of the development of a new country estate which will involve the demolition of Higher Roughwood Mill and ancilliary structures. A photographic record of the buildings of interest was undertaken on the 16th-17th November 2017; for Higher Roughwood Mill, the photographic record was supplemented with measured survey and a drawn record. Floor plans were provided by the client for the other buildings which were used to annotate the photographic record, although plans for the cowshed did not exist so were created in order to annotate the photographic record.
