Abstract/Summary

Desk-based assessment undertaken in 2018 for land, approximately 22 ha in extent, to the east of School Lane, Hartford. There are no designated (Scheduled Monuments, Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas, Registered Parks and Gardens or Registered Battlefields) or non-designated archaeological assets within the proposed development site. The site has generally low potential for any archaeological evidence from the prehistoric to Post-Medieval periods. There is some potential for waterlogged organic material and palaeo-environmental remains in palaeochannels and deposits of peat to be buried beneath alluvial deposits within the floodplain of the River Weaver; however, this potential may have been affected by the construction works associated with its canalisation and is unlikely to be impacted by the proposed development.
